Ceramica Walter produces an array of ceramic products all produced with an Andean motif. We carry
salt & pepper shakers,
nativity scenes and
Hanukkah menorahs (which we designed with Ceramic Walter).
Ceramica Walter is an incredible story of a family of potters from a humble background who created a successful and prosperous business on their family's trade. Walter, the founder of Ceramica Walter recounts that his earliest memories are of playing with clay animal figures that he himself made. To whom that was his world. At a young age he and his 8 siblings were orphaned when both of his parents died within a short time of one another. Walter the oldest sibling left behind his childhood at the age of 14 to care and support for his younger siblings. After performing his obligatory military service Walter decided that rather than simply struggling to survive and performing menial labor for others he was going to be his own boss. Along with his siblings he began a ceramics business. After initially focusing on ceramic plates a friend suggested that in order to make better use of their limited kiln space they should make small figurines and that is how Ceramica Walter began their trademark Andean figures. Slowly Ceramica Walter's business began to grow. After being invited to a trade show in Germany Ceramica Walter's business began to take off as they established contacts with clients in Europe and North America. Today Ceramica Walter exports to various countries in the world.
Ceramica Walter entrepreneurship has made it a reference for small businesses in Bolivia. Although Walter is self educated he is a regular speaker for various businesses programs for universities in Bolivia. Walter also works with other small and micro businesses on entrepreneurship, providing them with inspiration and advice on how to achieve success through their work. His dream is to help others like him achieve the same level of success in their work as artisans.
